The grand prize of the top! store chain’s 25th anniversary lottery – €25,000 in cash – was won by Monta Logina, a teacher from Bēne in Dobele municipality. She had registered more than 15 receipts for the lottery, but the winning purchase was made at the very beginning of the campaign at the top! store in Bēne, Stacijas Street 10.
Monta Logina shares that the local top! store in Bēne is her favorite and closest store, where she has been shopping daily since its opening. The lucky purchase was a regular one – just over €20 spent on dairy products, fresh fruit, grains, and children's items. This is her first major win. “At 34, the only thing I’ve ever won before was a Twister board game, so winning the top! lottery feels surreal, and I still have no idea how I’ll spend the money,” Monta reveals.
She admits the call about the win caught her completely off guard:
“I got the call during a coffee break while waiting for someone else to call. At first, I thought it was a woman returning my earlier call, but soon realized the conversation was about something else entirely. I didn’t quite understand what was being said when top! was mentioned – I started wondering what that could be. When I heard I had won, I still didn’t grasp what exactly. I usually participate in lotteries just for fun, thinking someone has to win. Even when they said I’d won the grand prize, I didn’t get it. When I heard the amount, I almost choked. I still tell my family – I hope no one’s scamming me, because there’s so much fraud out there.”
The first person to learn about the win was the school principal, who noticed Monta crying – luckily, they were tears of joy.
“The principal was confused about why I was crying, so she ended up being the first person I told. I even joked that now I could take two years off work,” Monta laughs, but adds that she won’t leave her students, as teaching is close to her heart. Speaking of her family’s reactions, Monta says they were amusing: “My partner said, ‘Oh, how sweet!’, my brother exclaimed, ‘No way, seriously?’, and my students think I’m joking.”
Monta’s story has inspired her colleagues to participate in lotteries too. She encourages other shoppers to take part, saying that while winning is nice, the most important thing is to participate – that’s the only way to create a chance.
For the top! store chain’s 25th anniversary, she wishes continued growth and stronger presence in the regions. “Since my local store in Bēne is currently being renovated, I believe Top! sees a future closer to people in the regions. Keep it up!”

From August 6 to October 28, 2025, the Top! store chain held its 25th anniversary lottery across Latvia. Every shopper who made a purchase of at least €10 and registered their receipt at www.etop.lv/loterija could participate in the prize draw. The total prize fund was €28,000, including 12 Top! gift cards worth €250 each and the grand prize of €25,000 in cash.
To participate, shoppers had to register their receipt and keep it until the end of the lottery. Lottery permit number: 8646.
