On Thursday, September 11, a new store – mini top! Saulkalne – was opened in Saulkalne at 24A Daugavmalas Street, marking the tenth new outlet of the local retail chain top! this year. With an investment exceeding EUR 500,000, the company has developed a modern neighborhood store tailored to the needs of local residents. The fully renovated building now houses a 144 m² sales area and has created five new jobs.
“We regularly conduct a thorough assessment of regional development and residents’ needs to ensure we are available where customers need us most. In recent years, we have seen more Riga residents moving to Saulkalne, while stable employment and economic activity in the area are supported by both the veneer processing plant and the mineral materials factory. Saulkalne also offers well-developed infrastructure – public transport, a kindergarten, library, and healthcare point – but until now, residents lacked a modern local grocery store for fresh products and everyday essentials. We hope that mini top! Saulkalne will become a convenient and well-loved shopping destination for the local community,” says Ilze Priedīte, Member of the Board and Marketing Director of top!
Like other mini top! stores, the Saulkalne store offers both customer favorites and everyday essentials, as well as fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat, alongside a wide range of locally produced goods.
The building was acquired in spring 2024 and underwent a major reconstruction over a year and a half, with only the original frame preserved. A new façade was built, and 144 m² of retail space was carefully designed. In line with sustainable business principles, the store features energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting. To ensure accessibility, a secure bicycle rack and a ramp were installed, making the store easily accessible to families with strollers and people with mobility challenges. mini top! Saulkalne will be open daily from 8:00 to 22:00, and for customer convenience, will also provide a reverse vending machine and an Omniva parcel locker.
“In our 25th anniversary year, we continue to consistently implement our long-term development strategy, aimed at strengthening the position of top! both in Riga and in the regions. In just nine months, we have opened new stores in Pūre, Kuldīga, Saldus, Jelgava, Daugavpils, Zasulauks, Zolitūde, and Ulbroka. At the end of August, we opened the largest top! store in Riga, in Pļavnieki. Today, we are delighted to start operations at mini top! Saulkalne – the tenth new outlet opened this year, and the 219th grocery store in our chain,” adds I. Priedīte.
