The school volleyball cup top! Cup 2023 returns with a large-scale selection competition throughout Latvia, which takes place from February to the end of March, in order to compete for participation in the final in Riga on 16 April. For the teams of secondary schools, such competition is held for the 19th time and more than 4,600 participants will take part in it. This year, the supporter of the cup competition is the largest local store chain in Latvia top!.
From February to March, the qualifying competitions for the top! Cup will be held in 26 territories, in which 34 regions/cities of state subordination are participating, almost all of Latvia – from Liepaja to Limbaži, Valka, Balvi un Krāslava Municipalities. This stage is held in the format of competitions, which determine the best teams of the region, where the winners go to the final stage.
Competitions are held in four age categories. 1st group: high school boys (2003 - 2006), 2nd group: high school girls (2003 - 2006), 3rd group: primary school boys (2007 - 2010), 4th group: primary school girls (2007 - 2010).
The final stage of the School Cup is scheduled for 16 April in the Skonto hall in Riga, on 1а Emiļa Melngaiļa Street. In each age group no more than 33 teams will compete for 1-3 places in the top! Cup.
Such competitions are taking place already for the 19th time. Over the past years, this project has kept its basic idea and has become the most popular volleyball event among youngsters. In 2001, 660 participants and 66 teams competed, and in the 18th season, 3066 participants and 411 teams took part.
The goal is to identify the best teams and promote the development of volleyball, as well as the popularisation of a healthy and socially active lifestyle among young people, increasing their interest in this type of sport. That's why the top! Cup 2023 is held in the form of a volleyball holiday among general education school students. The cup competition is organised by the Latvian Federation of Volleyball in cooperation with the store chain top! and municipalities.

Cup 2023 volleyball tournament, which will gather thousands of young people at qualifying competitions in different parts of Latvia and at a big event - the finale in Riga”, the Member of the Board and Marketing Director of the store chain top! The Volleyball School Cup is the largest and most anticipated youth volleyball competition, which has been held by the Latvian Volleyball Federation since 2001 and which has attracted more than 60,000 students over the years. This was also the first major volleyball tournament for such world-level volleyball players as Anastasija Samoilova, Jānis Šmēdiņš, Gundars Celitāns, Aleksandrs Samoilovs, Mārtiņš Pļaviņš, Toms Svans and other well-known athletes in Latvia.
