Survey: 98% of respondents will celebrate Mother's Day this year

Every year on the second Sunday in May—this year on May 8th—we congratulate our mothers by expressing gratitude for their enormous, selfless contribution to all of us. How to please mom on this special day? At the local top! we found out, according to an online survey, that most moms would be happy with any congratulations. But if you had to pick just one, most moms would enjoy flowers and a meal with their family. According to the survey, 98% of respondents confirmed that they plan to celebrate Mother's Day this year.

“Mom, granny, wife, mother-in-law or any woman who has played a significant role in our lives deserves to be remembered and at least a moment devoted out of the hectic daily rhythm on May 8. The importance of spending time together was also emphasised by 82.6% of respondents, almost two-thirds of whom reported that they would spend up to 40 EUR on a Mother's Day surprise. The holiday begins at the table, where everyone will take care of a gift, warm words and hugs of their loved ones. And top! will make sure that you have freshly baked buns and cookies on your table, as well as your favourite products for cooking your favourite dishes,” the Member of the Board and Marketing Director of the top! Ilse Priedīte emphasises.

When asked how they would congratulate their special women on Mother's Day, the most popular answers of the survey participants were: they would give flowers (44.2%), spend time together (24.4%) and make material gifts (12.2%). Of course, a joint meal at the festive table (8.7%), as well as simple verbal congratulations (5.2%) are not forgotten.

After all, which was easily predicted, and as the top! survey showed, the most satisfying thing in life for mothers is the opportunity to see that their children grow up happy (62%), to observe the joy of their children every day (31.4%) and to feel, that their contribution did not go unnoticed (4.9%).

Realising the role of not only mothers, but also fathers in the daily life of the family, top! also asked respondents about congratulating fathers on their special day - the second Sunday of September. The vast majority (91.6%) of respondents emphasised that dads play the same important role in the family as moms, and this should not be forgotten.

Online survey of the top! store chain was held from April 25 to May 2. It was attended by 977 respondents from Riga (9.3%) and Riga Region (6.4%), Vidzeme (42.3%), Kurzeme (16.7%), Zemgale (14.9%) and Latgale ( 10.4%).

top! is the largest store chain owned by Latvian entrepreneurs, as well as the third largest chain of retail stores in Latvia.
