Homemade tomato ketchup

Ingredients

For a small bowl

  • 1 kg tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 25 g celery
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 40 g brown sugar
  • 10 g white wine vinegar
  • 10 g tomato flakes
  • 12 basil leaves
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation video

Blend the tomatoes into a smooth mixture. Heat a pan with olive oil and lightly fry the finely chopped onions. Add the finely chopped celery and the pressed garlic clove and fry a little more. Add the blended tomatoes, brown sugar, white wine vinegar, tomato flakes, basil leaves, salt, and pepper. Cook everything over low heat for about 20 minutes, until the mixture becomes thick. Let it cool slightly and blend until smooth. Use immediately or pour into jars and store in the refrigerator.
